First, you must acknowledge the cracks, just as acknowledging the trauma is essential. Then it's critical to find the right trauma-informed care. This can be difficult because many Western Medicine practitioners are not trauma-informed. This means you need to be an advocate for yourself and your healing journey. You can do research to find trauma-informed healing methods, or you can join our community and find all the tools and resources in one place.
Healing from childhood trauma without therapy is possible, although it's like taking a challenging journey without a map. The key is finding the RIGHT kind of therapy. Most healing modalities aren't trauma-informed, this means they could potentially make you worse. (CBT is a prime example) Trauma-informed approaches, such as EMDR, can be highly beneficial for those who've experienced childhood trauma. When you pair therapy with valuable resources like the Mindful Evolution Membership, you're assembling all the essential elements for a smoother path toward healing, like fitting together the pieces of a puzzle to see the bigger picture.
Complex trauma refers to exposure to multiple or prolonged traumatic events, whether in childhood or adulthood, resulting in emotional and psychological difficulties. CPTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a specific diagnosis within complex trauma, encompassing symptoms of traditional PTSD along with additional emotional and relational challenges. Developmental trauma, on the other hand, specifically pertains to trauma experienced during critical childhood development stages when basic needs for safety and support are not consistently met, leading to long-term emotional and cognitive issues. Essentially, complex trauma is the broader category, CPTSD is a specific subtype, and developmental trauma focuses on early childhood experiences' lasting impact.
Untreated PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) from childhood can have significant and lasting effects on a person's life. These effects may include persistent anxiety, recurring nightmares or flashbacks, emotional numbing, difficulty concentrating, strained relationships, and a heightened startle response. Therapy and support groups can help you unpack and heal, allowing you to be the parent your child needs! Their is absolutely hope, don't give up.
Healing subconscious childhood trauma involves a gradual process of self-reflection, mindfulness, and support. And doing so in a way that your brain and nervous system can handle. Traditional methods often overlook the fact that childhood trauma survivors possess hypersensitive nervous systems and buried subconscious memories. To heal effectively, a more careful and deliberate approach is needed. This entails gently and strategically addressing the trapped subconscious patterns while ensuring that the process doesn't overwhelm your sensitive nervous system. Symptoms of developmental trauma in adults can manifest as emotional dysregulation (emotional outbursts, crying spells), difficulty forming and maintaining healthy relationships, low self-esteem, chronic feelings of emptiness, self-destructive behaviors, and challenges with trust and intimacy. These symptoms often stem from unmet emotional and safety needs during critical childhood developmental stages, impacting a person's overall well-being and functioning in adulthood.
